Let the Fun Begin!

Tomorrow begins our Summer Quest. For writing, my nephew will decide what his book might be about. We will work on the setting and the characters of his story. We'll see how far we can get. On tomorrow, we will tweak our schedule and build in some flex time. After all, we may have a quest for spontaneity!

  3. I'm B. Today I went to the library and got my card. I also got a bracelet that detects UV RAYS. It is orange and has 5 beads. Today, I ate my first fresh cherries. They were delicious. Bye now. I've got to go paint! I am painting a fishing picture for Paw Paw. It will be on a canvas. I love you mom.

  4. B. read a first grade book titled Me On the Map by Joan Sweeney. He also read a second grade book Come Out, Muskrats by Jim Arnosky. His main goal is to read to MAKE THE WORDS MAKE SENSE and rereading to increase fluency. B. is really encouraged by the library's summer reading program, especially since his cousins have completed the same reading challenges.

The picture for Paw Paw will need to be touched up for details on tomorrow. We drove across town to get the Goosebumps book titled How I Got My Shrunken Head. It is a 4th grade novel that I will read aloud to him. We were out during lunch time so I found out he loves Chinese sesame chicken and root beer.

  5. Hi, I'm Dad. It sounds like a lot of fun, I wish I could be there. I remember going through books at that age and thinking about them and letting my imagination just run wild. It's like a whole other world to let the words take you to. B, have fun with the books that you will adventure in this summer and I'm sure Paw Paw will love the painting. Love y'all.

  6. Hi Dad. Thanks for writing on my blog. I have read 100 minutes so far. Today I am making a rocket to see how far it will fly. Also, I am making applesauce. I will tell you the recipe at another time. Signed B.

  7. How Far Did My
    Rocket Fly?
    1st Try 4’2”
    2nd Try 3’2”
    3rd Try 2’8”
    Conclusion Rockets deteriorate with use.

  8. Its mom, I am glad you are having fun B. and learning at the same time. 100 minutes is a long time to read--that is great practice for 2nd grade. How did you have time to make a rocket and applesauce? It sounds like ya'll are having more fun than me, wish I could come to Summer Quest. Keep up the good work, the more you read the easier it will be.

  14. Keep it up, with each level you encounter, the more you experience the reader's zone and like Aunt P said, the easier it will get.
