This is a blog I have set up for my nephew to communicate about his summer with me and Granny. He is practicing his wrtiing skills which will enhance his reading skills. This summer, in our quest to have some fun, Granny and I are also on a quest to further his academics. Enjoy your visit and leave us a post.

ReplyDeleteThe first time B. read the third grade book, it took him right at 40 minutes. He was quite intimidated by the length of the book. The second time, he had gained so much confidence with the sentence structure and his ability to read the book that he read it in 14 minutes. Neither time did he know I was timing him. Both times, it was his choice of activity and choice of which book to read.
ReplyDeleteAbraham Lincoln was 4 and he taught himself to read using the Bible. He'd have his mom read a verse and he would go away and practice it. This goes to prove that the only limits we have in reading are in our own mind. The deal is, B. wants to read fluently so bad. That's why he is making great gains. =)
